ProPresenter Stream Output: Dedicated Live Stream Graphics & Audio
Set up a dedicated stream output in ProPresenter 7 — lower thirds for your live stream, NDI with alpha key, and clean audio routing.
If your church live streams while running ProPresenter for worship, here’s a goal worth chasing: the stream should get its own version of every graphic — lower-third lyrics instead of full-screen, clean scripture references, no motion background muddying the shot — without anyone doing double work.
ProPresenter 7 can generate exactly that. While your operator clicks through songs and sermon notes once, a dedicated stream output produces the stream-friendly version of everything automatically. No second operator re-clicking slides. One click, two outputs, both right.

One Machine, Two Versions of Every Graphic
The model looks like this: the main ProPresenter machine generates the audience graphics and the stream graphics. The stream layer travels to wherever your stream is assembled — a video switcher over a physical output, or another computer over NDI — and stays active the whole service. When it’s set up correctly, the right content simply appears: lyrics as lower thirds, scriptures as clean references, or nothing at all when the stream should be graphics-free.
You might still want a person watching the stream and firing stream-specific content — announcements, pre-service loops. But that’s a monitoring job, not a re-clicking-every-lyric job. It can even be triggered from a Stream Deck by your main operator.
Create the Stream Output Screen
Head to Screens → Configure Screens. You’ll see your main output and stage display already there; click the plus to add a new screen and name it Stream Output. Use the identify button liberally — it flashes each screen so you know exactly which physical display is which.
That new screen needs a destination: either a physical output (HDMI to your switcher) or NDI, which sends the video over your network to the streaming computer. We’ll come back to which one in a minute, because there’s a transparency wrinkle.
Looks Do the Heavy Lifting
The magic is in Screens → Edit Looks. A Look decides what each screen shows: my worship look sends full lyrics to the main screen but a lower third to the stream output — with media disabled, so the motion background never reaches the stream. For sermon content I run three looks — full-screen graphics, notes, and scriptures (the scripture reference as a lower-third label).
Then macros apply the right look automatically: drag the worship macro onto the first slide of every song, the sermon macros onto the teaching slides, and the operator never thinks about it again. Click the song — everything switches.

NDI, Alpha Key, and the HDMI Chroma Trick
If your stream output goes over NDI, enable Alpha Key on it — the graphics layer becomes genuinely transparent, so your streaming computer or switcher overlays it on the camera shot cleanly.
If the alpha key option isn’t showing up, that’s your clue: the output is probably assigned to HDMI, and HDMI can’t carry an alpha channel. For a physical output you use the classic trick instead — a chroma key. ProPresenter sends the graphics over a green background, and the switcher keys the green out.
The Audio Side: Don’t Loop Back Into Your Console
Graphics are half the job. If the same computer runs your lyrics and your stream, the audio path needs one rule enforced: audio coming into the computer from your console must not go back out to that console when you play a video.

Open ProPresenter Settings → Audio and the page splits into three sections:
- Inspector — where preview audio plays when you’re setting in/out points on a file. Point it at your built-in speakers so previewing never blasts the sound system.
- Main — where videos and music actually go. Skip “system settings” and assign your interface directly (an X32 shows up as X-USB, with all 32 channels available in the routing matrix). Sources on the left, destination channels on top — send ProPresenter’s channels exactly where your console expects them.
- SDI/NDI — audio embedded in those outputs, if you’re using a DeckLink or sending audio over NDI.
Two extras live in the Main section that solve real Sunday problems: a volume control, and a delay of up to 1,500 milliseconds — which is how you fix audio arriving ahead of video on the stream.
